Vector Adventure Retreats

The clarity you can't find at your desk.

Guided expeditions for founders and leaders. Long days on the trail, hard climbs, thin air, and the kind of clarity that only shows up when the body is genuinely tired and the phone is genuinely gone.

Led by Ian Crafford, Vector's founder. Small groups. Real work of another kind.

Small groups · Founder-only · Earned, not scenic
Why this exists

Clarity is a rarity. Especially at your desk.

The best decisions of a founder's life rarely happen in front of a screen.

They happen when the surface noise finally quiets. When the calendar stops. When the body is doing something hard enough that the mind is forced to settle underneath. Usually somewhere the surface noise can't reach.

These retreats are that place. Real terrain. Real effort. Real time away from the flow of work, with a small group of people you can actually think alongside.

Four things that only happen outside.

Each of these is available in principle at your desk. In practice, none of them are. That's the point.

01

Clarity

The best thinking of a founder's life doesn't happen at the desk. Days of walking, disconnected from screens, let the decisions you've been avoiding surface on their own.

02

Doing hard things

Growth happens at the edge. A long alpine day is a version of that edge you don't get in a spreadsheet — physical, honest, unavoidable. What you learn about yourself doing hard things stays learned.

03

Relational connection

You build with people you've suffered a little bit alongside. Multi-day trips forge trust and honest conversation in a way that dinners and video calls simply do not.

04

Transformation

Some changes only happen when the body is part of the learning. Real terrain, real effort, real time away — you come off the trail different than you got on it, and not just physically.

Long days. Small groups. No exit.

Multi-day treks through alpine terrain — the Alps, the Rockies, high country of one kind or another. Real distance on foot each day. Sleep in mountain huts and working lodges, not resorts. Eat with the group, walk with the group, talk with the group.

The primary agenda is the mountain — the objective we're going after together. Around it, each trip carries a focus area, a working prompt, and daily reflection — a pattern of attention that turns the trail into the material.

Phones are stowed. Ian leads. Groups run as small as three, as large as eight.

Founders who want to think differently.

Not a good fit for sightseers, luxury seekers, or anyone unwilling to earn the summit.

Terrain that has shaped the work.

Plus various Front Range hiking and cycling throughout the year — informal day trips and weekend loops as the calendar allows.

Upcoming trips are announced to Vector members and past participants first.

Talk to Ian about the next trip.

Trips fill from within Vector's circles first. A 30-minute conversation is the way to be part of the next one — or to design a private trip for your team.
